Samen de handpan leren spelen op een prachtige, landelijke camping retraiteplek in de natuur — en jezelf authentiek ontmoeten in muziek. Bijna drie dagen ondergedompeld in de magie van de handpan: samen spelen, samen eten, samen stil zijn. Een plek waar je even mag landen, voorbij je hoofd en in je gevoel.

In een kleine groep van maximaal 12 maken we ruimte voor aandacht, plezier en persoonlijke groei — of je nu net begint of al langer speelt. Alle niveaus welkom.

𓎟 Ontmoet de teacher
Timo is multi-instrumentalist en bespeelt mystieke instrumenten als de handpan, didgeridoo en bansuri. Zijn kracht ligt in spelen vanuit improvisatie, afgestemd op de energie van het moment en de groep. Hij ontwikkelde zich tot ervaren docent bij de Handpan Studio Amsterdam en studeerde in 2025 af bij niemand minder dan handpan-grandmaster Malte Marten. Diens vrije, intuïtieve manier van spelen en lesgeven inspireert hem diep. Timo begeleidde eerder vier handpan-retraites in Nederland; deze vijfde bouwt daarop voort.

We werken vanuit de Malte Marten Methode: speels, toegankelijk en gestructureerd, met oog voor authentieke expressie en een holistische kijk op spelen.

𓎟 Het programma
Drie workshops van ca. 2,5–3 uur (twee op woensdag, twee op donderdag) en kampvuren in de avonden om te jammen en te verbinden met elkaar. In de workshops:
– Basis van het instrument: opbouw, klank en resonantie
– Techniek: noten en akkoorden aanslaan
– Ritme, melodie en samenspel
– Harmonie, dissonantie en akkoordprogressies
– Vrij en intuïtief spelen vanuit gevoel
– Samen muziek maken in een handpan-cirkel
– Praktische tips om thuis verder te ontwikkelen

Er is ruimte voor persoonlijke aandacht en gedifferentieerd spelen: beginners krijgen een zachte opbouw, ervaren spelers ruimte om te verdiepen.

Landgoed Energy Up ligt in een uniek natuurgebied: een plek waar je kunt verdwalen in de bossen, wandelen door het moeras en eindeloos kunt turen over het water. Het is een idyllische plek die je uitnodigt om terug te keren naar je kern en jezelf op verschillende niveaus te voeden, zodat je opgeladen weer naar huis gaat. Een plek waar rust, verbinding en persoonlijke groei samenkomen.

𓎟 Over de handpans
In de groepssessies spelen we in de D Kurd-toonladder — een warme, meditatieve scale die op elk niveau prettig speelt. We gebruiken Ayasa en Yatao handpans, geliefd om hun kristalheldere, warme klank en uitstekende speelbaarheid. Heb je zelf een handpan? Neem 'm mee voor je vrije momenten (in de workshops werken we wel uitsluitend in D Kurd). Overweeg je een eerste handpan, of heb je vragen over scales en kwaliteit? Handpan Retreat — Magic of the Handpan 🎶

Learn to play the handpan together at a beautiful, rural campsite retreat nestled in nature—and connect authentically with yourself through music. Spend nearly three days immersed in the magic of the handpan: playing, eating, and sharing moments of stillness together. A place to truly land, moving beyond the mind and into your feelings.

In a small group of no more than 12 participants, we create space for mindfulness, fun, and personal growth—whether you are a complete beginner or have been playing for a while. All levels are welcome.

𓎟 Meet the teacher
Timo is a multi-instrumentalist who plays mystical instruments such as the handpan, didgeridoo, and bansuri. His strength lies in improvisational playing, attuned to the energy of the moment and the group. He developed into an experienced teacher at Handpan Studio Amsterdam and studied under none other than handpan grandmaster Malte Marten. He draws deep inspiration from Malte’s free, intuitive approach to playing and teaching. Timo has previously facilitated four handpan retreats in the Netherlands; this fifth retreat builds upon that experience.

We work according to the Malte Marten Method: playful, accessible, and structured, with a focus on authentic expression and a holistic approach to playing.

𓎟 The program
Three workshops lasting approximately 2.5–3 hours (two on Wednesday, two on Thursday), plus evening campfires for jamming and connecting with one another. In the workshops:
– Fundamentals of the instrument: structure, sound, and resonance
– Technique: striking notes and chords
– Rhythm, melody, and playing together
– Harmony, dissonance, and chord progressions
– Free and intuitive playing based on feeling
– Making music together in a handpan circle
– Practical tips for further practice at home

There is room for personal attention and playing at different levels: beginners receive a gentle introduction, while experienced players have space to deepen their practice.

𓎟 About the handpans
In the group sessions, we play in the D Kurd scale—a warm, meditative scale that is enjoyable to play at any level. We use Ayasa and Yatao handpans, prized for their crystal-clear, warm sound and excellent playability. Do you own a handpan? Feel free to bring it along for your free time (though during the workshops, we work exclusively in D Kurd).
