Weaving a New Story of Meaning - An afternoon workshop with Jeremy Lent
Every culture is based on an implicit story about what the universe is and how we belong in it. The
dominant story of our time is one of separation: humans set apart from nature, individuals
competing in a world of scarcity, a living planet treated as a resource to be extracted. That story has shaped our economies, our institutions and our inner lives, and it lies at the root of the crises we now face. However, another story is emerging, grounded in systems science and echoing insights from wisdom traditions across the world: a story of deep interconnectedness, in which we recognize ourselves as part of the web of life.
In this workshop, author and systems thinker Jeremy Lent invites us to explore how worldviews take
shape, how they guide the way we live and organize our societies, and how we can consciously
take part in weaving a new story of meaning. Drawing on themes from his books The Patterning
Instinct and The Web of Meaning, the afternoon moves from understanding to personal reflection,
and to embodied experience. It is offered to everyone working toward regeneration and systems
change, from the commons and bioregional communities to new economics, education and the arts, as well as anyone curious about the deeper roots of the transformation our times call for.
